Another Challenging Budget Year
This year will be another challenging budget year for state and educational entities. The state has a projected budget shortfall of over 1 billion dollars. This is a potential reduction of approximately ten

percent from last year.
Oklahoma must continue to fully fund the education of science and math students at OSSM. We need more scientists and engineers or we will lose out in technological innovation.
Bill Gates in his March 2007 testimony to the U.S. Senate said:
“America cannot maintain its innovation leadership if it does not educate world-class innovators and train its workforce to use innovations effectively. Unfortunately, available data suggest that we are failing to do so—in our math and science programs, in our job training programs, and especially in our high schools.”
Innovation is the fuel that drives the American economy. We cannot innovate without an adequate supply of talented scientists and engineers. By funding OSSM, The State of Oklahoma is helping to develop our own innovative workforce by providing a vehicle to fully develop the science and math abilities of our state’s gifted young people.
This site is devoted to helping OSSM educate more world-class innovators. OSSM needs our help to garner legislative support for its mission. If you wish to join us in suporting OSSM, please check back for updates and information on how to help.
